Changing Planes at Narita

Hi Folks,
Hope this hasn't already been answered (couldn't find it when searching, but I may have missed it). I'm looking to do a JFK-NRT-AKL (well really JFK-NRT-CHC-AKL) routing using miles, and it seems to work using two different ANA awards, one on ANA from JFK to NRT and one on Air New Zealand from NRT to AKL. So, I'm going to be changing planes at Narita, but with two tickets. I'd have three hours and ten minutes to make the connection.

First off, does anyone know if I could check baggage straight through, even though they're two different tix?

Second, do I have enough time to clear immigration, get baggage, check in at Air NZ, and still make my flight?

Thanks!
