Trip Report for WDW Hilton - Disney Village
Stayed a few weekends ago. As Diamond, no upgrades offered for the 9th or 10th floors (supposedly the executive levels) or to a suite, etc. Not a big deal as it turns out. The rooms are cookie cutter with exception to suites, so upgrades are not important, IMO. We were given access to the Executive Lounge and we were pleased by the offerings. We were given choices, however, of upgraded room views. However, when we chose the upgraded view we were offered a soaking-wet, mildew-smelling room. We arrived near 5pm just after a classic torrential Florida Sun-shower. The room had wet carpet, drapes and pooled water around the inside window casements. The windows were completely closed, some sort of leakage problem. The front desk, of course, had other rooms available after I notified them of unsuitability. But again, no upgraded (pool) views could be found for the 9th or 10th floors. Later that night, it was evident from the dark windows, that there were many executive rooms unoccupied with a pool view. Ahh... front desk games...
Nonetheless, I would stay at this hotel again. The location is so convenient next to the Disney MarketPlace-Downtown-Pleasure Island areas. There was street entertainment at MarketPlace and we stopped in at Raglan's Irish Pub for live music and entertainment (no cover). Our weekend room rate in high season (June) was only $109. It is soothing to stay on Disney (or very near Disney property) for us. The Lake Buena Vista, Kissimmee, and I-4 traffic snarls are a vacation buzz downer. Walking to a restaurant (or even worse driving) would just be another visual turnoff outside of Disney property.
So I think this is my new favorite Hilton property for WDW. It would probably NOT be the best fit for occupants of four. DTree Suites or HGVC or ES would be better. But with the right price break, it might pay just to get two rooms.
The executive lounge offerings in the evening consisted of unlimited fountain sodas, cappuccino coffee, cash bar, vegs and fruits tray, fried finger foods (mini-crabcakes, cheese sticks, etc.) . In the morning, there was a variety of baked goods (identical to the quality downstairs for a goodly sum), fresh pineapple, more fruits, oatmeal, cereal, bagels. On Sunday morning, the line became longer (maybe 5 or 10 people deep). So I walked over to the concierge on duty and inquired about a voucher for the downstairs dining area. She easily, cheerfully complied. The voucher was supposed to only be for continental, but upon arrival, the dining room manager INSISTED that we use it for the full hot buffet (made-to-order eggs, etc.). I offered remuneration but was rebuffed.
