QF now address all Plats and CL's by name as part of the boarding process. I think this is great for a variety of reasons but the primary reason is the boarding process is your first interaction with the crew that will be looking after you and my mum always said, first impressions count.

For this reason alone, I make sure I hold my boarding pass so that the CSM can see it clearly and have time to read it. As I approach, I will look to see the crew members name and then try to greet them first and ask them how they are first. I then listen to the answer, rather than just grunting and walking off like so many before me.

What does it cost me? Nothing! How does it make me feel? Good! So why not try taking your grumpy pants off and putting your happy face on the next time you fly? You never know, you might just enjoy the experience a little more.
