Sorry ffor the newbie question as it’s probably been asked 50 times:

The link http://www.mastercard.com/rentandsave/ says you ‘may be unable to receive benefits in Ireland’

I’m going to rent a car in Dublin in September using AVIS. I’m convinced I can master the stick shift, but after reading all the posts and still being a little nervous, am still unsure about the INSURANCE.

Which of the below do I need? Will my Gold Mastercard (or GOLD AMEX) cover any of this? My current USAA auto coverage? My homeowners? Please help as I am still confused. I’d like to save on the costs listed below:

6 Day Base Rate:
78.00

Total Tax ( 13.500% )
Mileage 14.41
Approximate Subtotal:

121.18 USD

Optional Coverages
Optional coverages are subject to tax in certain locations. This tax is not reflected in the Estimated Total.

Collision Damage Waiver ( 25.25 USD per day ) $176.750
Personal Accident Insurance ( 7.91 USD per day ) $55.37
Liability Insurance ( Not Available )
--
Theft Protection ( 11.87 USD per day )
$83.09
