Check out Priano, a little fishing village south of Positano. I think Positano is really obnoxious & tacky, overrun with ugly tourist shops & generally bad restaurants. Unless you are paying the BIG bucks & can escape to Le Sirenuse or the San Pietro, you'll be stuck in the middle of it all. Priano is a charming little village that seems miles away, yet is just the next bus stop up the road. Watch the fishing boats come in, eat at Armandino's, an excellent, but small little restaurant right on the wharf, walk the trail round the cliffs to the next beach... and save a whole lot of $$ & headaches.
