Would I fight a hijacker?
Just Bring it Jabroni!
Since my parents survived a major plane crash (UA 173 @ PDX in 1978) I've always run the worst case scenario of an airplane flight through my head before stepping on a plane, because I don't have the attitude that it "won't happen to me." So when I'm in an exit row, I run the procedure of crash landing, opening the exit, getting out and getting away from the plane. If I'm not in an exit, I run the procedure of surviving impact and getting to the exit through smoke and over debris through my head. I think about potential hijackers, which before Sept. 11th would be to wait it out and see what they want. But now, I think my procedure will be different.
Possible scenarios for confronting the hijacker: facing him, behind him, or next to him in a seat. Facing him I think I'd kick him in the balls and the tackle him to get him on the ground. Hopefully he'll have dropped any weapons he had in his hands, otherwise I'd try to get those away. Then while he's on the ground I'd stomp on his face and neck.
From behind him I'd try to get him on the ground by tripping him by pushing him over my foot, or by tackling him. If I'm the laying on top of him I'd bang his head on the floor. Standing up I'd stomp on his hands (to get rid of any weapons) and then the back of his head and neck.
From my seat I'd hope that he doesn't notice me as he walks by and then I'd have a foot in the aisle and push him over it, and the the usual stomping on his head.
I've also thought about using my housekeys as a weapon in a situation like this once the hijacker is somewhat subdued.
I also think that if I got him unconscious I'd straddle the aisle and stand on the armrests and then jump on his head one last time. I think that 235 lbs. of mass landing on ones head would be fairly painful.
Anyway, I have no hand to hand combat, martial arts or any other fighting experiences, so feel free to suggest any other ways to subdue a potential terroist.
