Yeh, that's pretty much true for most airports except London, where taxes can be high. But even in London, you are going to get dinged *much* harder with a biz or first ticket than a coach ticket.
I noticed Lan has imposed a fuel surcharge recently. But unlike the other airlines' screwball charges, at least there is rhyme or reason attached to the Lan charges. It's based on the cost of oil. The more oil per barrel increases, the more the charge increases. If the cost goes down, the charge goes down. And the steps are clearly stated on the website.
