The removal of MRTC was a devaluation for the many -- and hit EXPs too -- but a couple of years later AA started giving EXPs free domestic upgrades. And that is something that was not an oprtion previously unless using "earned" or "purchased" 500-mile upgrade stickers. And even domestic first class on AA is a better experience than coach seating with MRTC layouts.
