Updates on lower baggage weights by the * partners.
As most of us aware, on the 2PC system the maximum weight per piece started to come down from 32kg to 23kg when AC & UA led the charge mid 2005. Since then LH and NZ have, or are about to, follow suit.
Now it seems most of the rest of the partners have also come down as well.
Weight limits for Y flights under the 2PC system :
(Flying on your host carrier may result in different levels applicable, pending your status level & amount of baggage perks given to that level in the FF scheme).
Y cabin - no *G status - (2 pieces maximum)
BD NH OZ RG SQ TG & TP are the only 7 left who offer 32kg per piece under the 2PC system.
AC* LH* UA* NZ US LX SA JK OS SK* - 23kg max weight per piece under the 2PC system.
LO 20kg max weight per piece.
*(LH allows 32kg per piece only on Star RTW fares, Japan & Brazil)
*(AC/UA have 32kg per piece exceptions for some Asian destinations plus Brazil)
*(SK allows 32kg per piece for Economy Extra cabin)
Maximum dimensions all carriers = 158cm/62in when adding total of length by width by depth.
Y cabin - *G status - (3 pieces maximum)
BD NH OS OZ RG SK SQ TG TP UA - maximum weight of 32kg per piece
AC* LH LO LX NZ SA US - maximum weight of 23kg per piece
*(AC has same exceptions as per previous paragraph).
Maximum dimensions all carriers = 158cm/62in when adding total of length by width by depth.
*Amendments and corrections welcome
(Maybe Kiwiflyer can add this to the sticky at the top once the list has been dissected, corrected, debated and more info added??).
