Well, I called MC and they said I do get covered by them for CDW so long as I decline the CDW offered by the rental company. To be sure, I asked now you're sure this is true in Ireland? She said it says that it may not apply in Ireland (Israel, Australia, some others) if prohibited by law in those countries. She suggested I ask the car rental company if I have to get the CDW from them. Any guesses what the rental compnay will say?

BTW, I waited too long and Europecar was the only ones with affordable autos left.
