Is anybody actually surprised that the strike was authorized by such a high margin?

Well, the pilots need it as bargaining power. Hence, it was crystal clear from my perspective that this would happen.

However, this does not mean that they will actually strike and get themselves out of business. We've all seen what NW has done with their mechanics, and I believe if DL management is really smart, they will pursue similar options.

I for one will not worry about my upcoming Delta bookings until next week when we'll most likely see the first arbitration results coming up. That's the timeframe when it really gets interesting. Plus, my Amex Plat has me covered if anything bad really happens (which I do not expect).

So until next week, I will continue to book on Delta as usual.
