I'm not sure whether or not I'm Platinum or Gold either, but for the first day or so after being upgraded to Platinum, the Marriott system still showed 19 nights short of requalifying. With my 31 nights so far this year, that adds to 50. So I suspect that "number of nights needed" field runs a day or so behind the status change.

I will probably wait a couple of days before I call or send anything to Marriott just to see how things shake out. They may be having some problems with their system.
