Quick note that I didn't know:

If you check in after midnight, make sure you get credit for that night. I had a stay a few weeks back where I checked in at 3am (and paid for that night), but found out today, that I was given Marriott points for that night, but not credit for nights stayed, which in turn affects your elite status requalification. A simple call to Marriott customer service will fix the issue.
