OK then, what do you call it when an airline discontinues a type of aircraft and the pilot in question is not rated for another aircraft? What if aforesaid pilot is let's say 56 years old? Huh? Southwest may not have furloughs, however every other single US carrier has a list.
Personally I know a DL pilot that has been on furlough for several years now. He changed his "base" to LA, and is actually doing another job which he is happy with. He actually lives in ATL and has no interest in rehoining Delta, but is interested in keeping his perks up. How many pilots do you think this applies to? I know that it applies to a hell of a lot of FA's as well. So does everyone at Delta.
