The Starwood AmEx is a terrific card. It's my understanding that the previous cap was recently lifted. You earn 1 Starpoint per $ charged, & Starpoints can be converted to airline miles in ~30 programs, nearly all @ a 1:1 ratio. If you transfer 20,000 Starpoints (to miles) @ once, they'll give you a 5,000 mile bonus. You can also choose to leave some Starpoints in the Starwood acct, & use them for award stays, etc. The Starwood AmEx card automatically gets you mid-tier frequent stay status, has no annual fee the 1st year (after the 1st year, it's ~$30), & has some nice hotel-related Starpoint bonuses available for the 1st year.

The overall flexibility & 5,000 mile bonus per 20,000 pt-->mile transfer make this card very, very appealing.

If you happen to have multiple FF accts, you can selectively transfer miles into the various accts from the Starwood acct--you aren't committed to one or even a few programs. And if you do happen to use the Starpoints for hotel stays, the Starwood program has no blackout dates or capacity controls on award stays--if there's a room available, you can have it (& on the spot--you could walk right in, whether for an impromptu or planned stop, & get a room using Starpoints to "pay" for it, & that's that).

I can't say enough about that card...
