I've spent about an inordinate amount of time, spread over 2+ weeks, trying to get points.com to work. Their chat help and email help person is friendly and helpful, but it just doesn't work for me or my spouse. Our AS and AA mileage accounts are still "Pending" at points.com.

As a hint for those who attempt to get free miles from Alaska Air and transfer them to American, note that you have to establish two semi-separate accounts at AS. One is Mileage Points (500 free miles) and one is MyAlaskaAir (1000 free miles?), and apparently you create them in that order. The above information is from the very helpful AS website help number, who seem to know a lot more than the regular AS help staff. I don't have the number with me.

What points.com wants is your MyAlaskaAir ID, which is not your Milesge Points number but is something like "[email protected]" or "TravellinLots" or something else you have made up.

If we ever get points.com working, we will convert the 1500 AS miles to 150 points.com points, then convert them to 15 AAdvantage miles. A lot of trouble for a partner!

Use caution with the above advice...this is a prime case of the blind leading the blind.
