Transiting in KIX

We will transit in KIX (Osaka Kansai Int'l) without going into Japan. Books say int'l to int'l transit minimum is 1.5 hours. I looked at the airport layout, it's fairly simple, and we are transiting from ANA (Gate N12) to UA (Gate N10). Do we realy need 1.5 hours?

Is it like in NRT, that everyone has to go through a security check again when transiting? Where is the transfer desks, or they are close to the gates?

Thanks!
