After fholt's post today I called the number for the AAdvantage Dining for Miles and this is how I now understand the program to work ( later called back on the Delta Dining for miles line and got the same answer )
The programs are run by the same people.
You have the option of signing up for any of the airline programs free of cost and you get 10 miles per $, first visit per month only, max 6000 miles per visit using the AMEX/VISA/MC/DC/Discover you list when you signup, OR you can sign up for I-DINE you can make any number of visits to a restuarant and you get 20% off the bill (deducted on your card statement)HOWEVER I-DINE COSTS $49.99 PER YEAR
You cannot enroll the same card in a airline program and I-DINE SO NO 20% OFF PLUS MILES.
They did mention both programs had many of the same restaurants although I-DINE had more.
