I think that would be a good idea. Just out of curiousity though, is there a way to set a control as to what's hot? In otherwords, if a thread hits say 100 posts or maybe 1000 views, that it automatically becomes a hot thread?

I'm not sure that we'd need to use the "hot thread" concept (would it be similar to the thread rating concept? Or would it be moderator controlled?) - I do like the idea of the dead thread though - currently, in the Mileage Run forum, we're placing FARE GONE in thread posts - which isn't a hassle to do...
