Are there any repercussions if you miss the last leg of a return trip? A friend is returning on her father's 87th birthday. He lives in MSP. If she didn't complete the last leg so she could celebrate his birthday with him, would anything happen? She will have checked luggage that her travelling companions would be able to retrieve at the final destination.

Do they match the boarding passes with the checked luggage?
