When reading the terms and conditions on United SWUs I didn't see anything that specifically excluded RTW fares (although it seems like they're excluded for LH). So .. you can upgrade united RTW segments with SWUs, right?
I am on a RTW M fare and I was able to upgrade the SF-ORD-LHR segment to C.
As for the SIN-NRT sgement I can't even get on the waitlist because the waitlist is closed
