As a result I've ordered the Heavenly bed today - they don't give 'em away however, at $1350 for mattress & box spring (no frame). The linens cost almost as much.

I disagree. But my comparison is the Westin South Coast CA on the SPG floor (which is good) with the Marriott Irvine, CA on Concierge floors. The Marriott bed was nearly the best I have ever felt (except maybe a few 5* Resorts) and I spend hundreds of nights a year in hotels. It is difficult for me to judge Westin since I do not stay there much but I think the technology is just a bit dated - like 5 years or more. Hyatt began to follow recently with their version of a plush bed and now Marriott comes in with all out attack on what we will expect from a bed.
