I think someone may have pointed out the point I was about to make. It is a late night departure, and by the time the departure was rescheduled for the morning hotels would have been im-practical. Having been there myself on other flights, I can say there is not much worse than arriving at a hotel at 02h00 and asking for am 04h30 wake up call to be back at the airport for an early morning departing. In the case of AC882 I think it was an 07h00 departure.
In the end, I'm happier to wait for a serviceable aircraft - even on a blanket in the lounge.
