The connection between air safety and higher fares has not been always made, convincingly. Remember "the Concorde crash"
Fares being equal, I would always choose AC over KE.
But $300, be it canadian or US, is a lot of money. At least for me.

For example if AC charges $1,200 for YVR-ICN while KE charges only $900 for the same route, I would opt for AC because their safety record is way better than KE's even though it would cost me an additional $300.
