Unfortunately, due a recent hard drive crash, the email responses from the TSA and FAA were lost (along with all my other .pst files).

However, the emails from the TSA and FAA sounded a bit like they were worded by a politician - essentially that neither group was aware of any such rule or policy. They did not go so far as to say there was no rule in existance, only that the person writing the email was unaware of any such rule. In other words, I didn't feel it was a message I could print out and hand to a FA as proof of anything one way or the other - and so I didn't print it out and try to use it.

On a humorous note, both agencies suggested contacting the other for information of this type: the FAA thought it was the TSA's domain, and the TSA thought it was the FAA's domain.
