One would think it wouldn't be that hard, but lately it seems that every property is jumping on the "Disco/Studio 54" bandwagon.
On a Saturday night last month, we bypassed 5 different properties because they were charging cover charges (anywhere from $5-15/head) on their non-disco/club bars, which we refused to pay. These are places like Nine Fine Irishmen in NYNY, and the Monte Carlo Brewpub. The MCPB was the worst. Adding a loud DJ and some lights to your brewpub does not make it into Studio 54. Admittedly they were allowing guests of the hotel in gratis, but if your place is empty (which it was) at midnight on a Saturday night, get a clue.
We just wanted a beer.
