Actually, that's not true. LA owns considerably more than 50% of LP.
And as far as being a PITA to OWE travelers, I have taken probably 40-50 flights over the years with LA and only had one problem which was actually my fault and not theirs. I disagreed with the decision but understood why it was made (visa issue). Not saying my experiences are normal, but I do think each person's experiences vary. Frankly, I have had far more problems with QF than LA and will not fly QF unless necessary. But then there's others that have had good experiences with QF who would think I am nuts.
