If you were on an e-ticket, and you have the number handy, much of the reinstatment can be done over the phone. If you need to produce BP's and you've lost them, a copy of the e-ticket and a UA baggage tag will generally suffice. UA is very thoughtful in that they put their locators on the bag tags, I wish AC would do that!
I sent in a baggage tag, along with a copy of the eticket and a note explaining that I'd lost the BP in to Aeroplan as directed on the website. That was about 2 weeks ago, and the miles still havn't posted as of today. I guess I should give them a call..
