FWIW I wouldn't wait! My experience is that if the points from an itinerary have not shown up within a week, you need to get proactive. My rule of thumb is 7 days from date of flight or until the next itinerary posts, whichever comes first.
If you were on an e-ticket, and you have the number handy, much of the reinstatment can be done over the phone. If you need to produce BP's and you've lost them, a copy of the e-ticket and a UA baggage tag will generally suffice. UA is very thoughtful in that they put their locators on the bag tags, I wish AC would do that!
AP has been amazing in going the extra mile to get missing points to me. You should be treated the same.
