I too used the PHX hub a good amount as the fares were usually better and HP offered more options across the left coast. Yeah, but these days their airplanes aren't that old - their Airbuses and 757's are quite nice and they've parked their last 737-200's.
I fly into PHX a lot, out of DFW, and while I will fly CO via IAH when I can, because I like CO, HP's nonstop service is, quite frankly, superior to American's.
