I wholeheartedly agree that FlyerTalk would be a better place if there were a venue for politely discussing general moderation policies and guidelines.
I have posted almost daily on FlyerTalk, since its inception seven years ago. During that time I have made every effort to be kind, helpful, supportive and polite in all my posts. This is true, despite the fact that I have been continuously stalked, and harassed by a small group of FlyerTalkers, both on FlyerTalk and throughout the internet--curiously a number of this group are Flyer Talk moderators. I am proud to say that I have religiously ignored even their most vile and disgusting attacks. If FlyerTalk ever decides to give an award to the member who has most successfully ignored trolls over the years, I should at least be a runner up, if not the winner. ^
Note: This group will in all likelihood make their identity known by posting to this thread, very shortly.
Last fall there was a rash of mysterious bannings of high-profile FlyerTalkers. After the banning of a very popular (and BTW successful) Talk Board candidate, I too was banned, presumably for making this very reasonable and innocuous post:
I most certainly did not attack any particular moderator, I was most definitely not rude or unkind. I simply made what I thought was a very reasonable suggestion, and for this I was banned, without warning, and without discussion of any kind.
The vast majority of FT Moderators do an excellent job, but spurious actions like these, by a small few, really do erode the credibility of the honorable majority.
