Not at all trying to be political here, but as someoen who has bought XONEX tickets ex-CAI, I think it's important for people to be aware of this. When I made the decision to start in CAI, I was comforted by the fact that the there had been no attack on tourists in six years -- that the authorities had the situation under control. One attack does not make for epidemic, but if I were contemplating starting in CAI, I'd pay close attention to events on the ground.

Too bad. Cairo is, for all its faults, is a wonderful and fascinating city to explore.
