TUS does the same. Chicago ticket checker, contract, just the tickets then directs you to a line and then the person at the walkthru takes the ticket and has you screened if your SSSS.
The examples I cited at DTW, SMF and EUG are from personal experience. I could cite examples stated to me by others, but I prefer to stick to my personal experiences.
The examples I cited were done by TSA-uniformed people
after the BP/ID check. I handed my BP to the TSA guy on the other side of the WTMD. Same thing at SMF. EUG had three different TSA people hold my boarding pass before getting it back after walking through the WTMD.
