On the 9th of this month I was booked on the 0745 BNE-TSV flight. A TSV-BNE flight was also booked for 1900 (QF977) same day.
I arrived at BNE late (5 minutes, but still late and my fault). While the agent was rebooking me on the QF 1145 flight, I realised I could take a DJ 0830 flight. I told the agent not to worry about the 1145, that I would go try to make the DJ flight.
It was at this point that the agent informed me that if I did not fly QF on the outbound sector, the system would cancel the inbound sector for later that evening. I could not believe it.
I was under the impression that as part of QF's "simplification" of online booking a while ago, you bought a series of one ways vs a return. If you hold a one way ticket, how would they know how you arrived at your departure point? You could fly there, paddle a canoe, etc... Guess since it was booked online as a e-ticket, the ref# must have the one ways together as a return??
Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and maybe a better explanation than "the computer automatically deletes it".
OT - wish I had found this forum years ago!! Absolutely brilliant!
