My daughter was traveling from LHR to LIS to MIA and overnighted in Lisbon, leaving her checked bag in the terminal. She arrived back at the airport in Lisbon, boarded her flight to Miami, and arrived in Miami without her checked bag. The checked bag never arrived. Yes, she collected several thousand dollars in compensation several months later, but it was a real hassle in documenting the individual items lost.
