Would the Jazz pilots know or realize that the fire truck was cleared to cross the runway as they were landing? Would the Truck know that an aircraft was cleared to land? I’m devastated that this has happened. The controller must be heartbroken as well as the families of the pilots.
If you listen to the full ATC recording, you could hear just how distraught the ATC is, he blamed himself for it multiple times. Genuinely sounded like he was about to break down. Poor guy…
