it’s a stage further in Dublin, all Uber (and Lyft/Freenow, Bolt etc.) are all regular licensed public hire taxis charging the same metered rates plus whatever the app provider adds on top. So it’s generally cheaper to hail one on the street as you don’t pay the app fee, the tech fee and whatever else the provider adds on top. Uber tried to introduce max pricing but the drivers went on strike a few months ago.

lyft/Freenow is the dominant app in Dublin by a margin, but some drivers will use multiple apps.
