Same issue if I try to book USA-FRA (UA metal) - XXX (LH metal).
Checkout is only showing "Travel credits" for pure UA itineraries. Is this the current SOP?
Unless things have changed, historically I had no issues redeeming on UA marketed/AC operated flight.

If you hit the cancel button, it should then show a preview on what the refund processing is going to be (don't worry, you need to click another confirmation to actually cancel). If it indicates
manuall processing, that would mean it may take a couple of days before that FFC comes back. If it doesn't mention manual processing, the FFC should be available within minutes of actually confirming the cancellation.
