As I said above, most ST FF members won't notice any difference since the VS network is so tiny.
If I wanted to get to central London, LGW wouldn't be a problem for me. Could even be better than LHR as the latter often suffers from weather problems. But VS don't offer direct service to that many US cities and anyway it's hard to beat landing at LCY (even if you have to change planes for that).
