AC 1119 is cancelled yesterday, today, and tomorrow. EF has "Weath" in the notes, which I take to mean "weather". I know it is horribly cold in Regina (-36 overnight) and the weather isn't great in Toronto overnight but it seems odd to me that this flight in particular isn't operating. The YVR flight tonight is still on, and everyone else is coming in as well, so if a Dash-8, a couple of 738s, and a CRJ-900 can overnight at -36, then why not an A321 and an A320 (tomorrow)? It was only -28 last night, so not even that bad.

Having asked that question, I had a look at YWG and YXE arrivals and see that AC271 and AC1937 were cancelled yesterday and are also not operating tonight or tomorrow. I guess I don't recall noting so many cold weather cancelations since the early days of the E190s when it took a bit of time for AC to figure out how to keep the water lines from freezing overnight, but definitely there seems to be an Airbus pattern across these three airlines. I am not aware of cold weather affecting AC's Airbus aircraft more than other types, so I am definitely curious.
Simple: Airbus aircraft are inferior copies of existing better designed models, but we already knew that.

On a more serious note, I am aware of A320neos with PW engines having special procedures for taking off in cold weather, but that obviously does not apply.

This may not be directly related to weather at these airports and part of a larger strategy for mitigating the overall network operations given what is planned for the weekend. AIrlines are getting better and better at proactivly cancelling flights to be fully operational sooner after a storm These may be richochet effects of other cancellations down the line.
