I can confirm that you get 4500 destination miles, once a booking is made through the bmi website. Extract from my online statement for one hire from Bristol (made up for travelling with Easyjet )and one from Heathrow:

18/06/2003 AV CCC - A21 3000 0
18/06/2003 AV CCC - BRS 1500 0
20/06/2003 AV CCC - A21 3000 0
20/06/2003 AV CCC - LHR 1500 0

The hire at Bristol was £49.12, the LHR one was seventy-something (better class of car and I ticked the extra insurance etc.)
