It will generally update on its own. If it doesn’t, you can contact MileagePlus after travel for credit. You’re eligible for credit based upon what you paid, not what the alternative itinerary would have cost if you’d had to pay for it.
Thanks not expecting the credit for the more expensive flights just used to doing this with miles and it always reflects the pqp and pqf normally after making changes even if there's a difference in mile amount.
