I believe the CSR might be needed for an incidental hold, but would vary based on the hotel. Most hotels ask to see the card you used to book the reservation. Whether you already prepaid it and used Chase points to cover the costs, that wouldn't matter at the end of the stay.
If anything, I think the most common thing is that the hotel wants to see the CSR because you used it to book the room and whether you have to use it for incidentals will vary on the FD. Some don't care what card you end up paying with at the end.
