I joined post Gulf War in the mid 1990s. I did it to perform public service and to get some money to pay for school. While I served honorably and in a combat zone, I’m not a hero… I just did a job.
I used to resent the airlines for draping themselves in the flag and being performative towards the military as a means of virtue signaling. Now it annoys me, but I’ve become numb to this ongoing nonsense.
The real heros know who they are.
