I don’t think I have ever been through a card issuer change, so I have no personal data points. But I am really not clear how Citi would force you to take a different card without your consent given that the benefits of the Aviator card are quite different from those of all currently known Citi cards (at least for those of us with Silver cards). That is why I shared the screenshot yesterday of the email from AA. Could Barclays charge me $195 today and then Citi takes over early next year (or some time before renewal) and suddenly my $20k in spend accumulated already doesn’t count anymore towards LPs when they send me a Platinum or Globe card?

Lots of unknowns, and I think I won’t stick around to see what Citi/Barclays are going to do. I’ll likely cancel the Silver card next week.
