No problem!

Like I said before, I stayed in a 'Fabulous King' base room on Wednesday night. NUA did not clear for anything, even the 'Cool Corner King', which I am guessing is because I was already upgraded just a half week before. More thoughts and pictures below, for those interested.

  • New thoughts about the hotel:
    • This time, the check-in agent did explain some of the benefits of the amenity fee and included two slips with the room keys that I hadn't seen before - one for the amenity fee inclusions and one for general hotel info. See photos if interested.
    • The area does get pretty lively on the weekend/holidays, due to the clubs around the area, including one located in the basement of the building itself, aptly named 'bsmnt'. Walked my dog around and there were people lined up for the nearby Royale and there's a decent amount of yelling and noise at night. Didn't really bother us in either room/stay over the night though.
    • Got in-room dining for breakfast and was able to combine the $30/person/day elite benefit and the $20 daily F&B credit as part of the amenity fee. The F&B credit does not apply to minibar items, per the check-in agent. The receipt at check-out initially did not have the $60 elite benefit, so I had to ask them to apply it but it was promptly fixed. Link to in-room dining menu: https://taptastego.com/BOSWH/outlet/...a-749ed208ad68. We got the Creme Brulee French Toast and the Smoked Salmon Bagel this time. French toast was probably the best although it is definitely a very sweet dish, as the name implies. Would have preferred a more toasted bagel for the other dish but I would get it again.
    • Also added pictures of the 'mixbar' menu. Basically, all the minibar items and other in-room items, like the speaker, martini shaker, etc.
    • They did not charge the pet fee again. Not saying it's an official policy, but seems like they're not adamant on charging this as long as your pet isn't disruptive.

General thoughts about the 'Fabulous King' room:
  • Pretty spacious and well-appointed for a base room. Nothing about the room seemed out of date, dirty, or needing immediate replacement.
  • I thought the design of the room definitely felt more in line with the W brand. Some interesting wallpaper as soon as you walk in the room, a 'painting' of Edgar Allen Poe in the toilet room, no real blank walls around.
  • The robes were actually different from the ones in the suite. This room had more of the rough towel-like feeling as opposed to the more fuzzy feeling robes in the suite.
  • Small detail that I appreciated in both rooms - the do not disturb sign does not fall off when you open the door! We recently stayed at the Kimpton Marlowe in Cambridge and this bugged the crap out of me, having to put it back on every time I opened that door.
