I reached out to AA to rebook and they informed me that they could only rebook based upon available award inventory. As noted in earlier responses, AA can only request its partners to open up additional award space, though it can do so on its own flights. Would you be able to return to Texas from Milan via London or Spain (e.g., Madrid or Barcelona)? If so, AA might be able to arrange a suitable substitute for the cancelled flight, especially if the transatlantic portion is on AA itself.
