This is generating quite a bit of confusion and this comment directly contradicts this page's wiki

Q: Can I do takeout/delivery/gift cards?
A: Yes. As long as the charge is directly processed by the restaurant, Chase does not know if it was a dine in or another type of order

For my part, I just ordered a $150 gift card from a Denver restaurant processed by Toast via the restaurant's website, and will report back with the DP.

For my Amex Plat, the Toast gift cards triggered the credit no problem.
