Hi all. I just want to use this post to organise my thoughts about changing FFPs for CX flights up to the time of writing.

I just had been reissued on CX on a CI 297- tix due to CI flight cancellation https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/37406154-post2.html
For that rebooked sector:
- Neither CI Taipei nor HK as ticketing carrier can add AT/JL/MH FFPs for seat allocation
- Neither can first Tsuen Wan agent I managed to call after the reissue
- Second agent managed to add AT for me and JL for the missus. But my online seat assignment still didn’t work (maybe because I have a KQ ELPS number on my first three sectors), so I had to call again for my seat assignment

My collected conclusions on changing CX operated sectors’ FFPs

1. If your ticket is 160- ticketed and operated by CX, obviously it’ll be have to be CX who adds your FFP
1a. I recommend calling the US 1-833-933-2244 toll free to connect to Tsuen Wan for this, I’ve been having the most success with them (even if it is a 1 in 5 HUACA the last time I tried changing an AM redemption back to Cathay and then again to AT)

2. Qatar redemptions on CX must be thru QR chat, they’ve added OTP protection to their bookings
2a. I have mixed anecdotes about changing QR redemptions - some say can, some say much harder these few weeks https://www.reddit.com/r/awardtravel/s/UAjuXmmU43 - anyway the only certainty is the need to HUACA

3. For any other ticketing carrier (BA comes to mind), exhaust all your options with the ticketing carrier first. Only after multiple HUACAs with ticketing carrier then go back to CX.

---

I'm kind of analogising this to my hobby watchmaking - if you can't get through to a plate on this side, see if you can go through the other side.
