The key point is that Marriott credits nights and points only when you've had the stay, even over NYE. This FAQ gives you a good idea: FAQ : Stay, night & spend credits for Dec -> Jan stays spanning New Years Eve . So in theory the only "pre-payment" you can make is having an incredibly long stay that crosses NYE, which would put the cash credit into next year (for any Ambassador status), but the nights would still post correctly to the year when accrued.

The concept of paying a hotel in advance isn't really a valid one as it is likely against the Bonvoy T&Cs (not to mention the potential for expenses or tax fraud concerns), though if you have stayed at one for the whole period and have a good relationship with them you could ask them about a meetings package that would give you nights as well as points. An extreme warning sign here of what happens if you "buy" nights but don't actually stay in the hotel, though Marriott hasn't as far as I know ever done anything this extreme: https://loyaltylobby.com/2025/08/31/...anchise-fraud/ . You could also look at gift cards that would let you buy Marriott dollars now, to spend next year, but those gift cards won't switch nights around.

So then you get into "what to do with the excess nights", normal thoughts would be:
  1. Stay in another hotel chain and gain status there, may be the easiest and give you more choice in the future
  2. Push to the next level in Marriott, Titanium or Ambassador if you are a Platinum like your profile stays, and then hope for a soft landing the following year (not official, but does seem to occur every year of Bonvoy so far, though this included COVID times)
  3. Supplement or replace #2 with getting a credit card that gives you extra nights, or even the status you desire... some of the most expensive Marriott US credit cards would give you your equivalent status of Platinum anyway for some USD700. Whether you could expense that is another matter (most likely not unless you are self employed?)

Don't forget, these statuses are only worth it if you actually stay to take advantage of the benefits, otherwise they are a shiny card that doesn't give you any return.
